Blogging from A-Z: Finally Finished!!

Well, April has gone and the A-Z Blogging Challenge is all over. Despite some of my latter posts being as dull as ditch water I have to say the whole experience was a blast!

Having cottoned on to the activity only a couple of days before the start I thought I would have a go, but did not plan any of the posts that I would be doing – I had some idea, like W was always going to be our wedding, but I wanted to see what occurred to me as the days went on and in some cases this worked well (I was really proud of the J Post) and in some it didn’t (like I’m going to say which ones!). Whether I would plan if I was to do the challenge again I don’t know, but I might like to have a better idea of topics I would cover.

It has been good to stretch my writing muscles each day, but on occasion it’s been a bit tiring to sit and write a post at gone 10pm, so I would definitely advise potential participants to schedule some posts in advance! The few times I managed to do this really helped me out and helped the challenge to remain fun and not become a chore.

One of the best parts of the challenge has been discovering to new blogs where people are writing some great material, but that I would never have found before. Also, it’s been great to read comments from other people undertaking the challenge. It’s a new perspective on your writing, particularly when those commenting are from other countries.

I do have to say though that the best part of the challenge for me personally was reading the posts made by my friends. A group of five of us undertook the challenge together and it gave me a real insight into them and their hobbies, some of which I knew about them but a lot of which I had no idea about – all the hidden interests came out! This is great as it giv es us loads of new things to talk about which we may not have broached before.

I’d love to do the challenge again, if only to see how much I have changed in a year. By this time next year, for instance, that pesky wedding will be over, my children will be a year older and a year further on in their development and who knows what I will be doing? I’d encourage anyone to have a go at the challenge, even if it’s just for you and I really thank the organisers for all their efforts and the other participants for their fantastic posts.
